Skipping the Detroit Auto Show, Porsche decided to go online to introduce its new production for 2017. The new updated line of 911 GTS models delivers more horsepower, an updated telemetry application, and a few visual tweaks that appeal to all sports cars enthusiasts.
Both the all-wheel drive 911 Carrera 4 GTS and the rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera GTS come in a convertible or a coupe model, while the Targa 4 GTS offers it all. The three models now have an upgraded turbocharged 3.0-liter engine that is designed to deliver 450 horsepower with an exceptional 405 pound-feet of torque anywhere between 2150 and 5000 rpm.
They come with either a dual clutch automatic transmission or a 7-speed manual gearbox. The fastest of all the 911 GTS models, the Carrera 4 Coupe accelerates from zero to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Porsche says that all the models can reach a maximum speed of 186 mph, but the rear-wheel drive coupe fitted with a manual transition was reported to reach an astonishing 193 mph.
Porsche Tweaks Performance and Design of Its Masterpiece
There were no obvious modifications to the original clean line design of the 911 GTS, but the manufacturers have adjusted the aerodynamic front bumper with improved air vents and a lower front spoiler. The tail lamps, now finished in black, are smoked with central exhaust outlets, perfecting a work of art.
Passengers are pampered with upholstered sports seats and a shiny trim on both the dashboard and the center console. With a strategically positioned stopwatch at its center, the console contains a high-resolution screen that allows users to manipulate the Porsche Connect Infotainment System.
The new GTS models will hit the markets in April. For more information on Porsche’s 2018 models, please subscribe to our newsletter.
