The Pagani Huayra wowed the automotive world when it debuted in 2011. With a top speed of 238 mph and the ability to go from 0 to 60 in just 2.8 seconds, it was no surprise the Italian supercar manufacturer had no trouble selling every model, even with a pricetag above one million dollars. As a sequel, they debuted the Pagani Huayra Roadster at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, topping themselves by creating an even more incredible machine.
The Pagani Huayra Roadster is more than simply the same car with no top. Although it shares the same name and a similar style, the roadster was designed from the ground up. While most convertibles are heavier than their hardtop counterparts, the Huayra Roadster was constructed using an innovative new carbon fiber material called Carbo-titanium, resulting in a convertible that actually weighs 176 lbs. less than the coupe.
Powering the Huayra is a 764-horsepower twin turbo V12 engine located just behind the cockpit. While many performance cars are outfitted with dual-clutch transmissions, this engine is mated to an Xtrac 7-speed automatic transmission to help further reduce the car’s weight. The already impressive aerodynamics of the body are assisted by flaps in the front and rear which automatically provide the necessary downward push.
The Pagani Huayra Roadster comes with two different roof tops. The first is a translucent carbon fiber and glass number that provides a coupe-like feel, and the other is a carbon fiber and cloth roof that can be easily stored in the car and quickly recovered if you are caught in a sudden rainstorm.
The craftsmanship and superior performance of this marvel comes with a hefty price tag of $2.4 million, but even that amount of money won’t help you own one of these magnificent machines now, as all 100 Pagani Huayra Roadsters that were made have been sold. But don’t be discouraged.
