While the all-new Fiat 124 Spider shares some of the same features with the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Spider also offers a driving experience that is totally unique.
Roar past the competition in the new Fiat 124.
The 2017 Fiat 124 has one thing that the Mazda Miata just can’t compete with, quadruple tailpipes that produce just the right amount of snarly acceleration. When you purchase a roadster, you are buying a sports car and you want it to sound like one. Well, the Fiat 124 delivers this need where the Miata falls flat.
The 124 features a Fiat-made 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 164 horsepower and reaches a top speed of 136 miles per hour. This revamped roadster also gets an impressive EPA estimated 26 MPG City and 35 MPG Highway.
Another fantastic driving feature of the Fiat 124 not seen on other roadsters is the limited-slip differential that helps keep your wheels where you need them, while going the speeds that you want.
An athletic exterior and advanced interior combine for the perfect driving experience.
Fiat is calling the 124 seductively powerful, and they couldn’t be more right. The 124 features a lowered front grille, classic roadster size, and athletic lines. You can customize your Fiat to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible; for example, opt for the hand-painted matte black hood and trunk lid and you’ll be arriving in style everywhere you go.
The 124 also has a slightly more updated and pleasing interior than the Miata thanks to Recaro seats covered with a suede-like material for added comfort. Everything about the Fiat 124’s interior is softer than the Miata, including the top of the dashboard which is made of soft-touch material. Although, it’s unlikely that the 124 will have the a range of off-market exhausts like the Miata exhaust systems that are available to customise your MX-5. This is one thing that may hold back the car enthusiast that regularly upgrades to a more performance based exhaust system.
