Reviving a beloved roadster 50 years later, La Famiglia commemorates the original Spider with an all-new FIAT 124 Spider available in Classica and Lusso trims. Upscale and dynamic, the 124 Spider is sure to thrill the next generation of sports car enthusiasts.

The FIAT 124 Spider Honors Its Roots

Homage paid to the original 1960’s Spider shines through the classic Italian design elements in the all-new 124 Spider. Designed at Centro Stile in Turin, Italy, reinterpreted components inspired by one of the most widely considered beautiful cars of all time are evident.

A single, horizontal character line flows from the front fender toward the rear, a nod to the original exterior body design on the 1966 Spider. The front fenders feature rounded headlights—a modern interpretation of the original. Other resuscitations of the historic Spider can also be found in features such as the hexagonal upper grille and grille pattern, power domes on the front hood, and sharp horizontal rear lamps.

The exterior design’s inspiration is not just limited to the past. By designing clean lines that follow the mathematical principle of the Golden Ratio, the body lines yield pleasing, harmonious proportions.

Luxury is purposeful throughout the convertible’s interior, with carefully crafted Italian design principles at work. Spider enthusiasts enjoy feeling the wind in their hair while testing the fine Italian engineering, which they can easily experience with a black soft cloth top specifically designed to open easily without even needing power assist.

The original roadster that hit the US market in 1968 featured a five-speed manual transmission, 1438cc twin-cam engine, four-wheel disc brakes, intermittent windshield wipers, and steering column-mounted lighting controls. Today’s 124 Spider maintains classic details with modern upgrades, presenting a turbocharged MultiAir 1.4-liter engine with a 6-speed manual transmission and a front-mounted intercooler that delivers 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque.

Celebrate 50 Years with a FIAT 124 Spider Special Edition Prima Trim

To celebrate the return of the classic nameplate, 124 individually numbered limited-edition anniversary models with a commemorative badge will be produced as the Prima trim. The special edition cars will be available in Rosso Passione Azzurro Italia (dynamic blue mica) exterior paint with premium leather seats in black.
