Meet the 2017 Audi A4: Evolution in Engineering

2017 Audi A4 The Auto Gallery

The future of cars is here, and Audi is at the forefront of what’s next to come with the 2017 Audi A4.

Bob Dylan once sang that “the times, they are a changin.’” That is why the new A4 incorporates more tools since the brand has thoroughly reworked the compact sedan to give it even more of an edge over the competition.

Though the outside may still retain the beautiful character you’ve come to see on Audi vehicles, a closer look reveals a more matured look that communicates its technological and state-of-the-art features. The ninth iteration of the sedan is an evolution that takes a tremendous leap forward.

Underneath the familiar body lies a chassis that is 265 lbs. lighter than its predecessor, while having all of the latest technology for a safer driving experience.

The new Audi A4 will feature three 2.0-L turbocharged four-cylinder engines.

  1. The TFSI gas engine will have two variants:
    1. 190-hp and 236 lb.-ft. of torque
    2. 252 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque
  1. TDI diesel will put out 190 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

This incredible strength will be delivered through Audi’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with power going to either the front wheels or all four via the quattro®  all-wheel drive system.

To be a lighter, more nimble sedan, the A4 relies on lightweight materials, which include magnesium and aluminum. The compact sedan’s newfound sense of agility is highlighted by the sedan’s low, aggressive front end. The result of a lighter chassis is an improved ride with remarkable handling. While this would be more than enough to be a major evolution, the cabin surpasses expectation.

There’s more space than ever before, a fixed display, an available TFT screen, and much more. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit in the Q7 SUV now has a place in the 2017 Audi A4, which displays Google Maps, vehicle information, and media settings at 60 frames per second. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard, while drivers that opt for the automaker’s latest MMI infotainment system are treated to an 8.3-inch screen that can be used as a touchpad.

For drivers looking to get into a luxurious sedan that has the latest features, is elegantly styled, and has superb performance for everyday use, the new A4 is a choice that’s hard to beat.
