The main requirements for operating a vehicle for a ridesharing program such as Lyft or Uber is that the car be less than eight years old and have four doors. For its latest commercial, Porsche decided to give some unsuspecting passengers in France the ride of their lives, when they are greeted by a 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo instead of the sedan they were expecting.
Quickly explaining that he had recently switched cars, the driver helps the passengers settle in and begins the trip to Paris. A news broadcast warns him of a traffic jam up ahead, so he looks for a shortcut, driving onto a racetrack. At this point, some passengers recognize the driver as none other than Romain Dumas, driver for the Porsche factory team and winner of the 2016 World Endurance Championship.
The routine trip takes an exciting turn at this point … or a series of exciting turns, to be more precise. Once the driver and the passengers are outfitted with safety helmets, Dumas takes the Panamera around the track. Racing at high speeds and making breathtaking hairpin turns, the passengers are treated to the ride of their lives.
While driving for a ridesharing service isn’t something most owners will do with their Porsche Panamera, it is an ideal vehicle for it. The Panamera’s comfortable interior features ingenious sports car ergonomics that makes any ride smooth and luxurious, even for those sitting in the back seat. Speaking of the rear seat, those riders can take advantage of the Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment system, a set of dual 10-inch touchscreen displays that connects to the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) allowing access to apps, games, movies, music, and books.
As enjoyable as relaxing in the back seat can be, the best entertainment in a Porsche Panamera can be found in the driver’s seat. The twin-turbo V6 engine integrates perfectly with the new 8-speed Doppelkung transmission for a thrilling ride that will continue to excite every time you sit behind the wheel.
