The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a rare breed of supercar. While Porsche only made a limited number of 911 GT3 RS models, the automaker has teamed up with LEGO to give enthusiasts of all ages the ability to enjoy one of the best high-performance supercars ever made. LEGO has created a new Technic model of the supercar that will give anyone the ability to enjoy the supercar’s gorgeous lines and impeccable engineering.
The Technic model of the GT3 RS is a 1:8 scale model that measures in at 22 X 10 X 7 inches and was developed in collaboration with Porsche, which makes it as good as the real thing. This is the only way enthusiasts will be able to get a car wearing a Porsche badge for $300. Before the model’s release, LEGO even went out of its way to camouflage the model, which has now been covered in a shade of bright orange to match its larger counterpart.
While LEGOs of yesterday couldn’t be used to make a car, the company managed to match the 911’s look. Unbelievably, the LEGO model mimics the real 911 GT3 RS’ with its large front air intakes, massive rear wing, aggressive design, and wide body design. But what really makes the model special, is its attention to the supercar’s minor details.
The model boasts a fully functional double-clutch transmission with four gears, gearshift paddles behind the steering wheel, a flat six-cylinder engine with moving pistons, a detailed dashboard, and a glove compartment with a bespoke serial number. The model is comprised of 2,704 pieces and, since the pieces are packed in individual groups, will give owners a look into building an actual 911.
This may be a model, but with its working parts, similar design, and limited run, LEGO’s 911 GT3 RS is worthy of wearing the Porsche badge.
